Rated as one of the best female vocalists in India, Subhamita began training under the tutelage of her father, followed by Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar of the Jaipur Gharana, Aniruddha Bhattacharya of the Kirana Gharana and Purnima Choudhuri.

Her recent albums include Abishkaar, Phiredekha, Icchepari, Bristi Paye Paye [modern Bengali songs] Moner Hadish and Gopono Kathati (Tagore songs).

Subhamita has worked with several luminaries such as Tanmoy Bose, Tejendra Narayan Majumder, Debojyoti Misra, Debjit Bose, Srikanto Acharya, Kalyan Sen Barat, Jolly Mukherji, and Nachiketa in a number of feature films and TV sitcoms.
